What Is Glulam?
Glulam is an engineered timber product that is an excellent natural alternative to steel or concrete. It is made from timber that is harvested from sustainably managed Scandinavian forests, ensuring a sustainable and environmentally friendly source. To create Glulam, laminates of timber are planned and glued together using heat and pressure. The result is a composite material that is made up of several layers of dimensioned timber bonded together with moisture-resistant and durable adhesives.
The timber sections are often joined along their length first and then assembled into larger elements. Glulam can be used as a structural or appearance product, and by laminating multiple smaller pieces of timber, a single, strong, large structural piece can be produced.
